Charmed Challenges

I love doing challenges but just lately I don't seem to have managed to get many done. Here's one card that combines Karen's sketch and Juliet's Valentine challenge - late for Valentines I know but I made it so that it could be given for something else if needed. The challenge was to use hand stitching, the word love and a bird......where's the bird? I hear you call, well there isn't one because numb skull here managed to forget it.Here's the sketch -which, of course I turned around.I used K&Company products, and in the middle you can just see two little fancy frames, there's a story that goes with those.............I'd seen a new local craft shop advertised in Crafts Beautiful so I paid it a visit, I told the lady in the shop that I'd seen her add in the magazine, she commented on how she always buys the mag and I just couldn't help telling her that I'm one of their new designers! Guess what?.............she was so impressed that she gave me money off my purchase! How cool is that? I sould have asked her what dicount I'd get for an autograph! pmsl.

Wowzers!

Just take a look at what I've been sent! The ever-so-wonderful Karen from Charmed Cards and Crafts sends me goodies each month so that I can make some cards with tutorials to show off the latest products. Well this month it's K&Company's Mira collection.
I couldn't believe my eyes when I opened the package, very generous I think you'll agree! And boy oh boy how beautiful are they! Normally when I get a new range there'll be a couple of papers that I don't like, which I guess is only natural and to be expected but with these papers and embelishments I love every single one. The colours are rich and vibrant and the patterns are beautiful.
Karen sent me a lot of papers from the speciality pad and they are totally stunning! Some are foiled, some glittered and one with a luscious suede effect. Not surprisingly they've nearly sold out already.
I've only had chance to make 1 card so far because we've had the work men in doing double glazing so you can imagine what it's been like in my house. But tomorrow I'll be locking myself in my craft/play room to create til my heart's content.
Look out for the sneaky peaks!

DCM - Tempting Template

This friday's challenge at DCM is to use this template to base your card on.

Here's what I came up with. As you can see, I'm really into these images from Pink Petticoat and I love the phrases that go with them too. I came up with the magnifying glass idea for the circles but I'm not sure if you can tell that they're supposed to be magnifying parts of the picture????Still I'm really please with the over all result.
I used mini brads for the currant detail - I love these brads.
Again, I couldn't resist using my glossy accents, I think they work really well on the hair.

DCM - Doodling

I LOVE this week's little extra, so much so that I've made two cards for it. Thank you Jo for the inspiration and the tips. Here's the challenge.....

This week, I would love your little extra card to be a little doodled border on your card, be it dots, stripes or little faux stitches.'
I made a discovery this week, the Pink Petticoat site, it's amazing! I got this image along with 17 others downloaded to me for £6.99! I'd never thought of doing this before but when you think of it, it's like getting 18 stamps and when you're printing from your computer the bonus is that you can resize the image. This is Lola, isn't she sweet? I cut out some of the backing paper to use for the trousers, I really like the effect.
I used glossy accents to highlight parts of the image, I'm really hooked on Glossy Accents right now.
And here's Lilli, again I've matched the clothes with the backing paper. Jo gave a great doodling tip that I'd never tried before, for the false stitching you prick lots of holes around your paper and join them up with a fine pen, I'm really pleased with the result it looks like real stitching! It's a bit wonky but then so is my real stitching! lol
I used three layers of glossy accents for the vase and it worked brilliantly, trouble is, you can't see it very well in the photo.

They recently interviewed me as their new designer, the interview is now up on the site here and what I love about it is, they've called it 'Crafty Queen' fab ay?

Here's one of my cards using the 'chick' template from Crafty templates. All you need to do is subscribe to their monthly template set which they email to you or send by snail mail. Once you are a subscriber you can access all their previous templates, cool ay? If you fancy a look at what they have you can get free templates to try out just pop along to Crafty Templates and take a look. The background paper is BG Phoebe. The text is chip board letters which I coloured brown then heat embossed with clear embossing powder.

Inchie Album

I had a bit of time last night and fancied making something with my new bind it all. I didn't need a note book and didn't have enough time for anything fancy so I decided to make a teeny weeny inchie album. I haven't actually made any inchies yet but they do regular inchie challenges at TJC Designs so I guess now is the time to start. I used a square scalloped punch for the pages and K and Company products for the covers. It's so easy to make these little books and so much fun!

Great News!

I just wanted to have a little SHOUT FROM THE ROOFTOPS! My first double page feature is now in Crafts Beautiful Magazine (March Issue) available in the shops on Friday. I got my copy sent to me today, I ran to the front door like a woman posessed when I heard the postie come! I'm so proud of myself, I never dreamed this would happen all those years ago when I first started to buy the magazine I was so awe inspired by everything I saw and now I'm there being introduced as a new CB designer! WOW WOW WOW! Can you tell I'm excited? To make it even better, I also have two cards in the free supplement!

Right just to change the subject I just wanted to show you a piccy of my cat, Nala. I put some of my son's jeans in front of the fire to dry yesterday and for some reason Nala just couldn't resist resting her paws on them. She doesn't normally rest her legs on the hearth like this, I thought she looked really cute.

Tagged again and again and again!

Right, here goes. I've been tagged by six people with three different kinds of tag. So a big thank you to; Jackie, Lavender Stamper, Bubblegum, Lazy Trout, Cazzy and Marlou.
I'm going to do all three in one post and tag seven people at the bottom of the post. If' I've tagged you you can choose one from the three options - I hope that makes sense.
Firstly from Marlou is the 'Spread the love' award, thanks Marlou, I wub you too.

Right next is a really different one, it's from Bubblegum and Jackie.....Here are the rules:- You must post the rules before you give your answers. You must list one fact about yourself for each letter of your middle name. Each fact must begin with that letter. If you don't have a middle name, just use your maiden name. After you've been tagged, you need to up-date your blog with your middle name and answers. At the end of your post, you need to tag one person for each letter of your middle name. (Be sure to leave them a comment telling them they've been tagged and need to read your blog for details. I drew the short straw here because my middle name is Elizabeth!

Every day I play with my parrot but sometimes she bites

Last year I started this blog

I am a Sagitarian

Zebras are cute - I think. lol

Andrew Lincoln was in my class at school

Blogging keeps me inspired

Eventually I would like to craft fo a living.

Lazy Trout and Cazzy asked for seven interesting facts, well, I'm going to cheat and use those - they may not me interesting but there are nine! Please don't tell me off, it's been a long day .lol

Right now I need to choose seven people to tag - in no particular order they are.......

Nicola - She's so lovely, and talented too -check out her blog.

Courtney Fowler- Her craft table is nearly as messy as mine! lol

Patsy- Ready to burst very very soon!

Kathy- My fellow Craft Template team mate.

Leann- She makes stunning cards

Anna - She inspires me soooo much
